Climate change is overburdening our storm water and sewer systems. Along with the increased frequency of extreme weather conditions in recent years, homeowners are seeing an increase in water damage and home insurance premiums.
Something as small as this can save your property from water damage.
Canplas backwater valves have been a staple in basement flood protection, and now they’re even better. Over the years, we have received feedback from homeowners who struggle to access backwater valves that are installed in ground. While the access sleeve allows them to reach the lid, it can be difficult to open a lid that has been set in place since the initial installation.
We listened and challenged our team to update our design so homeowners can check and maintain their backwater valves without the need to call in a plumber or purchase special tools. We incorporated a new socket into the lid of our 3” and 4” backwater valves. During installation, the installer solvent welds a custom cut length of pipe to the socket. The homeowner can now use this pipe as a handle to open and close the lid with ease.
Homes without adequate flood protection are at risk. The installation of a Canplas backwater valve allows waste to flow out of the building, while preventing backup of storm water or sewage from entering the building.
